I miss my dog!
Nov 10th, 2007 by Amanda
This past January my roommate at the time and I took a trip to our local humane society. We left with a roly-poly black and white puppy. If you’ve read my “About” section, you’ll have seen that I referred to him as the love of my life and the bane of my existance. At the end of April, my roomies and I went our separate ways - it wasn’t bad or anything, just time. That meant that DJ couldn’t continue to have two mommies. My new place doesn’t allow pets, so the obvious solution was that they got to keep him.
I miss him!
The first day we brought him home, he decided my chest was his dog bed. He stayed there for quite a while, all snuggled up close - it was completely darling. We crate trained him, so I would have to get up early every morning so he could go potty and then give him a few hours out of the crate before everyone went to work and he was left alone in the crate. That created a love-hate relationship with him! As much as I hated giving up those precious hours of sleep, my heart was so full of love for the lil guy! When he got sick from eating peanut butter, it nearly broke my heart! Seeing a puppy who can’t stop throwing up looking up at you with eyes that are just asking you why it won’t stop… that’ll get you. Luckily, that only happened twice. We stopped giving him peanut butter after that! Poor guy - it was his absolute favorite treat, too.
I’m excited, though! My friends who own him now have bought a house on this side of town - I’ll get to see him a lot! I’ve only seen him twice since April 28th because they moved waaaaaaay down South, and I live in the North part of town. Now, I’ll get to see him at least once a week! Woo!
I miss my dog.

Geez Mandi,
I feel so bad for you. I don’t know what I’d do without Shakespeare. I’d probably just curl up in a ball and stay there forever.
I’m glad that you’ll get to see him a lot.
Kisses
I’m glad that you are going to be able to visit your dog, again (Visitation rights? LOL).
We had an American Eskimo Spitz that we had to put to sleep a few months ago. Her body was beginning to fail, and we had to make the decision. It wasn’t easy, but watching the anxiety in her eyes when she tried to stand and her hips wouldn’t work correctly decided it for me.
She’s now buried in our back yard, between some pine trees where we’re planning on putting a flower garden.
Munchkin is also starting to push for us to get another dog. I’m figuring by next Spring Princess will be ready.
I’m glad you get to see him, too! Good news: He outgrew his peanut butter sickness! He can have it again, and he loves it!!!
I can’t wait to see you two play again.
