One of my favorite cities - Charleston

You all know that I’m a Southern girl at heart. I may not live there anymore, but I definitely left my heart in the South. I may be from North Carolina, but there’s no denying that one of the most beautiful cities in the South is Charleston, SC. I’ve only been there once, but it was memorable. I can’t wait to go again. It has everything - the ocean, the beautiful Southern sky, great food, and, of course, incredible sweet tea.
I remember flying into Charleston in October of last year. As the plane landed, I could see beautiful trees that had turned from a luscious green to a fiery golden red. The view literally took my breath away and brought tears to my eyes. I was in Charleston for a conference, but at night I got to walk around the historic district and take in the sights and the smells. There’s almost nothing better than walking at night while a gentle autumn breeze brings you the scent of the salty ocean. And the food - my goodness there’s some fantastic food to be had in Charleston! There’s so much rich history in that city, and I wish that I had been able to take a few guided tours to get everything out of it. It certainly would have been helpful! I could spend more time seeing the city and learning about the city. The next time I go (October 2008), I hope to go on some of the Charleston Tours offered by Trusted Tours (other cities are also availabe, including Chicago Tours).
My favorites include the Pub Walk of Charleston and the Old South Charleston Carriage Tour. Can you imagine touring Charleston in a carriage? It must be absolutely beautiful! I can’t wait until next fall so I can go back!
