This sounds like a great idea. I had no idea 29 million tons of food was wasted each year. But you really are taking a risk of getting sick when getting food from the trash.
this doesnt sound like a good idea to me. It in fact sounds dangerous. Its not jsut whether or not the chicken has stood there too long, but what about all surfacesit has come into contact with, what else is in the bag? What else is in the dumpster. If you join a feeding frenzy like this, do you know all the people? Is there not danger of a few weirdos in there doing something bad to the food? how many trips to the hostpial has freeganism lead to?
There are far far more efficient ways to redistribute food. food banks for one. Better just-in-time food production and delivery for another.
This looks like a bunch of materialistic self serving jerks feeling bad for themselves and going 100% in the opposite direction for some sort of martyrdom. Or some people who are choosing to not get a job and actually benefit from the capitalist society they actually live in.
No one forced that lady to buy 40 work blousesd and drive nice cars. She could have been giving to charities or making school better.
If this makes those people happy, and they don’t make a mess. I guess that fine. I wish they would spend less time digging around in trash and instead, help to find ways to prevent the trash from building up in the first place.
I’m not saying that I am helping much (although I am a fervent recycler), but I’m not digging around in the trash either.
