As far as I can tell, people of all faiths and none experience the same struggle between their darker impulses and their conscious mind. Very few people "just enjoy the sin". Doesn't this undermine the idea that the Holy Spirit is involved? From where I'm standing, it looks like the struggle is just because some components of our minds are able to think further ahead than others.
