Does God Have Enemies?

It’s interesting to me that the one part that stuck out the most to me isn’t exactly what the article is about:
Be encouraged when you observe yourself fighting against pride. That is God’s Holy Spirit working!
I had never thought of struggling in this light. When I struggle with a sin or temptation, the struggle exists because God is working in me. If He wasn’t, there would be no struggle and I would just enjoy the sin.
Unless it turns out that God was hardening your heart for reasons of His own, in which case you’re presumably struggling against God…
As far as I can tell, people of all faiths and none experience the same struggle between their darker impulses and their conscious mind. Very few people “just enjoy the sin”. Doesn’t this undermine the idea that the Holy Spirit is involved?
From where I’m standing, it looks like the struggle is just because some components of our minds are able to think further ahead than others.
