If I may drag this topic back up, we were also big fans of the show (even The Boy! )

The major reason for us not watching was that when that whole WB + UPN = CW thing went down, CW wasn't picked up by our cable company. We weren't able to watch the last few seasons.

(So please, NO SPOILERS! We have to rent them on DVD!)

It was one of my favorite shows. I think the ending was great because it ended with everyone venturing into a new phase of life.

I haven't watched in ages, but I definately think that a show can only develop so much before it looses the qualities which first drew the audience. I enjoyed Gilmore Girls because Lorelai and Rory were learning to grow up together. Once Rory became an adult, it kind of lost interest to me.

So today I came out as a closet Gilmore Girls fan and would have to agree that it was a great end to the show. I think they needed to end it when they did before they did too much more damage (the last two seasons weren't nearly as good as the first 5, although I thought the 7th was better than the 6th). The ending just fit and I think they ended on a high note.

they pulled it because ratings dropped after the creators stopped writing for the show a few years ago. i have to say as someone who studied entertainment/arts for years & still do so in my free time, it was a good decision. the creator of the show wrote for it for something like 5 years out of the 7 (or 8) that it's been on. that's a long time to maintain a vision, especially for a tv show. usually creators write for their own show for a year or 2 before they start moving on to something else. it's easier for an audience to stay with a show with quick writer turn overs or the same person stays with a show for the entire run. people may not know their brain picks up on the changes but it does in a way, things just take a slide. i'm sad they decided it should end. shows are getting lower in quality these days. i almost want to throw out my tv. but i'd rather they ended the show while things were still pretty good instead of trying to change things to keep people interested, then we all decide to stop watching because it had gotten so bad. i'm so happy they didn't end it with a wedding, like some shows do. that would have been underminding the mother/daughter relationship that carried the whole show.
