Mandi Kaye’s Southern Dictionary

I’d like to direct you to the new link up in the header – Mandi Kaye’s Southern Dictionary.

I know that most of these things floating around are intended solely as humor, but the words listed are, in fact, real words that Southerners (including me, the displaced Southerner) use on a regular basis in conversation.

I’ll also be adding to it as more words or phrases come to me.

Enjoy!

  1. So, I should study this list before we make our move from Southern California to Georgia this summer? :) (I’ve got to at least be able to understand the teachers I am working with back there!)

  2. Most definitely! Especially if you’re moving to a smaller town. :) These won’t be quite as common in younger generations and larger cities.

  3. I’m a New Yorker but I love all things Southern, and will be spending 3 weeks in Myrtle Beach in June

    Thanks I love it :)

  4. I just started working with a woman from Austrailia, who first came to America and lived in Mississippi. Talk about a confused accent…I pitty her.

  5. ontheedgeofmyseat

Carl, I would love to hear that woman talk!
