I couldn’t disagree more with this flawed argument. It’s similar to the idea that one can’t be patriotic if one doesn’t whole-heartedly support the president. It’s utter BS.
And of course these guys are going to say that- the essence of the armed forces is that you are “brain-washed” into believing in a top down approach to life- you agree ALL THE TIME with your commanding officer, you don’t question, you don’t think for yourself- you simply follow orders. Those of us living in reality do think for ourselves, making our own decisions, even if those decisions are in direct conflict with the thoughts of those above us (ie the president).
I can support the troops and still think this war is an awful idea. I wrote a post about this awhile back (http://musicguy2723.blogspot.com/2006/11/support-our-troops.html). Supporting the troops involves much more than paying lip service to our esteemed leader.
